DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Emerging Technologies Librarian, the Technical Support Assistant provides routine and advanced support and troubleshooting for a Tech Lending Program (TLP) with several hundred items that circulate thousands of times each month. The position is also responsible for maintaining the Learning Spaces Program (LSP) and Access Operations Program (AOP) internet and intranet pages, creating physical and digital signs, publicizing services in various media, supporting charging equipment, and maintaining the Library’s study room reservation system. Manages, tracks use of, and promotes the Library’s 15 LyndaPro licenses, applying judgment and discretion in assigning or enforcing loan periods. Frequently inventories and shelf-reads TLP items, ensuring that physical stock matches catalog records and webpage listings. Records and analyzes data on shared spreadsheets and conducts user surveys, making recommendations for changes, acquisitions, and repairs as appropriate. Responds to patron and staff requests and questions regarding web pages, TLP, room reservations, and all other responsibilities. Cross-trains and works closely with AOP’s TLP point person to serve as back-up and support. Maintains all library floor plans, maps, and directories, ensuring accuracy and user-friendliness. Develops and oversees selected LSP-managed wayfinding and informational signage, under the direction of Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage time, set priorities, manage diverse and changing workloads, accommodate changing priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Skill in the use of Windows PCs, Microsoft Office- including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, basic graphics and networking utilities.
  • Ability to write effectively for publicity purposes with strong attention to detail. Proven skill in learning, effectively applying new technical information when needed.
  • Knowledge of graphic design, experience creating graphic images for publicity purposes.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility, and the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships.
