Volunteer Opportunity: Information Specialist

Organization: Researchers Implementing Conservation Action, La Mesa, CA

Reports to: President

Position Overview: Information Specialist (volunteer), creates environmental databases and bibliographies

Specific Tasks:

  • Searches literature for relevant citations
  • Acquires relevant articles
  • Creates spreadsheet/database for holdings to facilitate access by wildlife researchers and managers
  • Helps assign keywords to articles and populate spreadsheet/database

Time Requirement: Hours flexible; a minimum of four hours per week


Physical: Ability to visit libraries and enter data using a computer keyboard

Skills/Education/Experience: Basic computer proficiency, good working knowledge of spreadsheet and database software as well as basic organizational skills and good attention to detail
