Volunteer Opportunity: Visual Resource Assistant, The San Diego Museum of Art Library

Department: Education/Library

Reports to: Manager, Library & Archives

Position Overview:Assist with the maintenance of the library’s visual resource collection

Specific Tasks:

  • Help sort, identify and classify photographs (prints, negatives, transparencies)
  • Scan images, process in Photoshop and archive images
  • Help develop metadata and prepare scanned images for upload to our DAMS

Time Requirement:Hours flexible; a minimum of four hours per week


Physical: Ability to navigate stairs, move boxes and binders of photographs, and enter data using a computer keyboard

Skills/Education/Experience: Basic computer proficiency, good working knowledge of flatbed scanning procedures and software as well as Photoshop, some experience with a DAMS, basic filing skills, and good attention to detail
