SUMMARY:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of highly complex and technical paraprofessional learning resource duties related to the acquisition, receipt, cataloging, circulation, distribution and utilization of instructional materials, periodicals and other multi-media resources in a community college library or learning resource center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Perform a variety of complex and technical paraprofessional learning resource duties related to the acquisition, receipt, cataloging, circulation, distribution and utilization of multi-media instructional materials and other learning resources required by the division; process and maintain learning resource materials in an assigned area of the Learning Resource Center.

Oversee and coordinate the acquisition and purchasing of materials and equipment used in the LRC.

Oversee and coordinate learning resource workflow and activities for an assigned area. Answer questions and resolve problems and discrepancies related to area of assignment, especially budget.

Order programs requested by instructors in accordance with established procedures; research and review new programs and inform instructors concerning new programs.

Oversee and participate in inter-learning resources and inter-agency loan of instructional multi-media materials requested by instructors and students. Research and review new multi-media instructional materials and inform instructors about new materials.

Train and provide work direction to the Multi-Media Technicians and student assistants and hourly or part-time assistants as assigned; prioritize, assign and review work; participate in interviewing job applicants and provide input for performance evaluations as requested.

Prepare and maintain a variety of detailed statistical records and reports for assigned area of responsibility; record, tabulate and compile statistics to produce reports as required.

Operate a variety of office and learning resources machines and equipment including typewriter, copier, calculator, computer, printer and related software and audio-visual equipment.

Perform responsible technical duties in the acquisition of learning resources multi-media instructional materials; oversee and participate in the researching, requesting, purchasing and receiving of materials in accordance with specialized procedures.

Communicate with instructors, district personnel, vendors, publishers and other learning resource staff regarding purchase orders, status of items on order, new materials, special requests, equipment repairs and donations.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

Participate in the planning and development of learning resource policies, programs and procedures as requested.

Oversee and coordinate the workflow and activities of an assigned area of the Learning Resource Center for an assigned shift; perform a variety of opening duties including turning on equipment and machines, counting cash and opening the building.

Control and monitor budget for assigned area; assist in budget preparation as required.

Coordinate Division budget development activities. Work closely with the Dean in developing the Division budget.

Continually monitor, analyze and make recommendations regarding the Division budget. Present options and possible effects of spending reductions and budget transfers.

Provide assistance and information to students and other patrons regarding the location, selection and utilization of instructional materials, periodicals, equipment, the on-line catalog and other learning resources.

Prepare a variety of written materials including correspondence, reports and memoranda; design and revise forms; prepare and update department procedures as required.

Perform related duties as assigned.
