A big congratulations and welcome to Charlotte King, SLA-SD’s 2012 scholarship recipient! Charlotte is an Education Director for a health services not-for-profit in San Diego where she is developing their initiative to bring free health education courses to underserved communities. She also manages their health education lending library.
Before relocating to California, Charlotte was a Program Officer with the Illinois Humanities Council (IHC.) While with the IHC, she organized a wide range of humanities and arts-based public programming and coordinated the initiative to bring their Meaning of Service discussion series to national audiences. Prior to joining the IHC, she worked as the Educational Outreach Director for Cinema/Chicago, where she expanded their Teachers Institute for Media Studies to include a monthly series of professional development workshops for Chicago Public School teachers.
She holds a B.A. in Women and Gender Studies with a concentration on women, culture, and the arts from DePaul University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Library and Information Sciences from San Jose State University.
