First, let me say thanks to Michelle Ohnstad for setting up this blog so we can quckly communicate any news or announcements.
I would like to take this opportunity to announce that I have won a service award. Sharp Healthcare has an award and recognition system entitled CORE awards. CORE stands for Center of Recognized Excellence. I have won an award for excellent service for my support of evidence based medicine through my research and membership on the Nursing Research Council.
Though I feel a bit funny tooting my own horn here, I think it is important for each of us to be recognized. Furthermore, I would like to encourage others to make such announcements in the future. I am quite confident that we will have many opportunities to for "horn tooting" due to the high caliber of librarians I have come to know.

Congratulations, Linda! It’s always good to do some horn tooting.

Congratulations, Linda!
I’d like to hear more about your support of evidence-based medicine. Information professionals seem increasingly to be supporting or working in evidence-based areas (e.g., medicine, nursing, education). But what does this really mean, on the ground, day-to-day, for today’s librarians? (Haven’t all librarians always provided evidence-based services?) Everyone else in our chapter might already be very familiar with what evidence-based library services entail, but I still need to learn more about this area. Maybe a chapter meeting could address “evidence-based library services”? (If that’s been done, please tell me.)
